Mental Health: Depression, Anxiety, OCD, Masking and Camouflaging
Discuss mental-health concerns and masking
Question (10 marks): Discuss depression, anxiety, OCD, masking and camouflaging in autistic learners and explain appropriate school support.
Depression
Depression
Anxiety
- Possible context: Uncertainty, unclear social expectations, sensory overload, transitions, past negative experiences या अन्य व्यक्तिगत factors।
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Masking and camouflaging
Worked Example
Conclusion: Mental-health concerns को “just autism” कहकर dismiss न करें।
Compare the four concepts
Question (6–8 marks): Differentiate between depression, anxiety, OCD and masking/camouflaging.
| Concept | Main distinction | Educator’s response |
|---|---|---|
Apply school support, referral and safety procedures
Question (8 marks): Explain how educators should respond to mental-health concerns while respecting privacy and professional boundaries.
Practical steps
- Respond to immediate risk: Self-harm, suicide
School accommodations—जैसे predictable schedule, accessible communication, achievable catch-up plan और trusted adult तक पहुँच—clinical treatment का विकल्प नहीं हैं।
Quick Revision
- Depression: Persistent mood/interest/energy changes; professional assessment
- Educator’s role: Observe, listen, support access, protect privacy and refer—diagnose
