Understanding ASD as per the Neurodiversity Paradigm

Explain the neurodiversity paradigm

Question (8 marks): Explain the neurodiversity paradigm and its implications for education.

Main principles

Worked Example

Compare two approaches

Question (4–5 marks): Differentiate between a deficit-only approach and a neurodiversity-affirming approach.

Basis Deficit-only approach Neurodiversity-affirming approach

Apply strengths-based planning in class

Question (6–8 marks): Explain how a special educator can apply strengths-based planning and self-determination.

Classroom actions

  2. Connect interests to curriculum: Learner

Worked Example

Quick Revision
