Alternative and Alternative Communication: Primary Classroom में Augmentative and Alternative Communication की स्पष्ट समझ

Continue Reading Where you left off

यदि कोई बच्चा बोलकर अपनी बात स्पष्ट रूप से नहीं कह पाता, तो क्या वह classroom discussion, learning और social interaction में बराबर भाग ले सकता है? हाँ। Augmentative and Alternative Communication

DSSSB का Assistant Teacher (Primary), Post Code 802/25, Directorate of Education/NDMC से संबंधित recruitment context है.[3]

विषय-सूची

AAC का अर्थ: communication का रास्ता बदल सकता है, उद्देश्य नहीं

AAC का पूरा नाम Augmentative and Alternative Communication है।

Core idea

AAC speech को “हटाने” वाला एक single device नहीं है। यह communication के लिए multiple modes और supports का system हो सकता है। व्यक्ति context, communication partner और communicative purpose के अनुसार एक से अधिक modes का उपयोग कर सकता है।

Communication Speech available Unaided gesture/sign Aided board/device Functional participation

Common confusion

“AAC = non-speaking child only” गलत simplification है। AAC उन लोगों के लिए भी relevant हो सकता है जिनकी speech कुछ contexts में उपलब्ध है लेकिन communication needs को पूरी तरह पूरा नहीं करती।

Unaided और Aided AAC

AAC को broad रूप से unaided और aided forms में समझा जाता है। यह distinction इस बात पर आधारित है कि communication के लिए external physical support आवश्यक है या नहीं.[7]

TypeExamples और मुख्य विचार
Unaided AACGesture, facial expression, body language, manual signs, finger spelling आदि; external device की आवश्यकता नहीं।
Aided AACPicture board, communication book, objects, letters, printed symbols, tablet या speech-generating device जैसे external supports।

Primary classroom application

उसके communication board पर “help”, “again”, “I know”, “I don’t know”, “finished” और relevant picture symbols उपलब्ध हैं। Teacher जब इन messages को legitimate classroom communication मानता है, तो child activity के instructional loop में सक्रिय रह सकता है।

इसी प्रकार group work में AAC user को केवल observer बनाकर रखना inclusion नहीं है। Group task में communication turns, partner responses और appropriate wait time की व्यवस्था करनी पड़ सकती है। AAC user की message production speed speech से अलग हो सकती है; इसलिए partner को तुरंत answer पूरा कर देने के बजाय communication attempt के लिए पर्याप्त time देना उपयोगी हो सकता है.

Learner intent AAC mode / message Partner responds Participation + learning

Teacher और communication partner की भूमिका

AAC system की effectiveness केवल device या board पर निर्भर नहीं करती। Communication partner भी system का हिस्सा है। ASHA के practice guidance में partner training, aided input, active listening, wait time और communication across contexts को महत्वपूर्ण support strategies के रूप में वर्णित किया गया है.[11]

Teacher memory line

Device + learner + partner + context = AAC system. केवल device को देखकर AAC की classroom effectiveness का निर्णय नहीं किया जा सकता।

AAC system का चयन: “एक device सबके लिए” क्यों गलत है?

AAC selection individualised decision है। ASHA के अनुसार assessment में communication contexts, symbols, access modes, communication partners, vision, hearing, sensory-motor profile, motivation, cognitive and linguistic abilities तथा literacy जैसे factors पर विचार किया जा सकता है.[13]

Incorrect shortcut

Literacy development के लिए letters, printed words, adapted books, writing और symbol-based supports context के अनुसार उपयोग किए जा सकते हैं।

Classroom decision

AAC system को learner के classroom participation के लिए available communication channel की तरह देखें। उसका स्थान, vocabulary, partner response और daily routines में integration उतने ही महत्वपूर्ण हो सकते हैं जितना device या board स्वयं।

सामान्य misconceptions

1. AAC speech development

Technical operation उपयोगी है, लेकिन communication partner behaviour, vocabulary access, wait time, modelling, classroom integration और learner autonomy भी महत्वपूर्ण हैं।

6. AAC user केवल fixed pictures से ही communicate कर सकता है

AAC systems में objects, pictures, symbols, letters, printed words, writing और speech-generating technology जैसे कई forms हो सकते हैं। System व्यक्ति और context के अनुसार बदल सकता है।
